My wife, Evelina Pan, and I have lived in McKellar Ward since the 1980s.  Prior to being elected to City Council, I was President of CAW (now UNIFOR) Local 1075, representing workers at the Bombardier plant.  I have been active in social justice organizations all my adult life.  I hold a Master’s Degree in Economics from McMaster university.

My priorities include:

  • decent jobs
  • reduce poverty
  • strengthen our neighbourhoods
  • downtown core renewal
  • infrastructure renewal and maintenance

Since being elected to City Council, I have served on the following:

  • Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC)
  • Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB)
  • Poverty Reduction Strategy
  • Youth Advisory Committee
  • Fort William Business District Business improvement Area (BIA)
  • Waterfront District BIA

I support increased attention by Council on repairing and renewing our city’s infrastructure. In particular, I am pleased with the upgrades to Algoma St. and May St. as well as the work being done on flood prevention, factoring in unusually severe weather events.  I also look forward to taking part in implementing our new Poverty Reduction Strategy.
