Iain Angus – At Large

Angus, Iain
Councillor At Large
Thunder Bay Ontario

Long time public servant and lifetime resident Iain Angus is seeking re-election as a Councillor at Large. First elected to Council in 2003, and re-elected in 2006 & 2010 Angus has also represented the City in the Ontario Legislature (Fort William) and in the House of Commons (Thunder Bay-Atikokan).

The last 11 years represents significant progress for the City of Thunder Bay but more remains to do to grow both the economy and the quality of life in our community.  I am seeking four more years during which I can be part of the team that will move this community further forward.

I will work to:

  • Enhance the economy of Thunder Bay through the mining expansion in the region
  • Ensure there are new & expanded housing opportunities for all income groups
  • Continue to convince Ontario to expand generation and transmission in the region and the convert the Thunder Bay Generating Station to natural gas.
  • Ensure that Ontario  understands the needs and wants of the Northwest and recognizes that ‘one size fits all’ does not work.
  • Develop new approaches for dealing with the cost and implications of severe weather.
